“Resin-bound” surfaces are a mixture of aggregate stones and polyurethane resin used to install and pave footpaths, patio’s and driveways. This is then trowelled onto an existing surface giving you a strong, hard wearing and attractive surface. It is a permeable and flexible surfacing solution which also has resistance to cracking. Your new Resin Bound Driveway is mixed on site and applied cold, we only use a high-quality UV resistant resin binder to coat the aggregate particles prior to laying.
Our outdoor resin bound surfaces are permeable (porous) which means it is SUDS compliant (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) meaning no need for planning permission. Al the resins we use have been approved by the BBA (British Board of Agrement)
This is not the same as resin-bonded surfacing, in which a thin layer of resin is applied to the surface and then the aggregate scattered on top, our resin and aggregates are thoroughly mixed together prior to laying, ensuring that the aggregate is completely coated thereby providing a totally bound surface. As a result, a resin-bound surface is more durable and requires less maintenance.
Resin driveways are typically created using a mixture of aggregate stones and polyurethane resin. This strong mixture allows footpaths, patios, and driveways to be installed and paved, making it the perfect option for your property. It’s resistant to forms of cracking as a permeable flexible surfacing solution, is just one of the benefits to having a resin driveway.
Compared to a resin driveway, resin bound driveways are created by thoroughly mixing the resin and aggregate stones together before they are laid, ensuring that the aggregate is completely coated thereby providing a totally bound surface.
It is typical that this mixture is then poured onto either tarmac or concrete which then begins to be smoothed and levelled. Resin bound driveways are often more durable and require less maintenance long term, so it is definitely worth considering if you're thinking about revamping your driveway.
Whether you’re opting for a standard resin driveway or one that is resin bound, it will be mixed on site and cold applied. We only use a high-quality UV resistant resin binder allowing us to coat the aggregate before we lay it down. We offer resin driveways across Fleetwood, Preston and Blackpool, and would be happy to discuss your needs. Get in touch with our team today on 0800 779 7878.
SUDS which is short for “Sustainable Urban Drainage System” is a regulation from The Environment Agency to help prevent surface water and flooding on hard standing ground. Natural ground surfaces like soil and lawn are permeable and allow water to drain through.
"Traditional" concrete or tarmac surfaces are not permeable so do not allow surface water to drain away. By installing a porous sub base and overlaying with resin bound stone, surface water is allowed to drain away or run off to ‘soft’ areas therefore avoiding “puddling” that is seen on many drives and patios.
There are many factors that affect the cost of resin driveways and patios so we have set this page up to give you a good idea of how much your project will be, and hopefully you will be able to at least estimate your own resin driveway cost.
To get the most accurate resin driveway cost you first need to consider a few important things…
These are the main points that will allow you to estimate your resin driveway cost and we will explain why each affects your project below........
This is the most inexpensive and fastest resin driveway installation is what we call an overlay. Overlays are possible when your existing driveway/patio is solid and is in good condition. If your driveway/patio is suitable to be overlaid you can expect to pay from £55 per sqm dependant on the total project area.
What are the advantages of an overlay?
* Speedy installation – an installation can be installed in as little as 1 Day
* Driveway Cost – as you have already have a suitable base installed, you save the excavation and preparation costs which are typically a further £40-£65 per square metre.
* Driveway Finish – you are still able to achieve the same stunning finish that you would expect from any other type of installation.
If you are unsure whether your surface can be overlaid or not, give us a call to book an appointment or send in some pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be able to advise you further.
Should your projects existing surface be unsuitable for an overlay or if you would just prefer a fully permeable, SUDS compliant base, we are able to excavate the existing driveway and start from scratch. We call this a ‘full dig out’ installation.
A ‘full dig out’ installation is generally between £100 and £130 per sqm dependant on the total project area.
The advantages of this type of installations are:
It is always best to arrange a free site visit and no obligation quote as we can usually provide you with your exact project price within 2 days.
